My journey into myofascial release and visceral work began in 2023 after twenty-six years in the field of education, when an unexpected layoff opened the door to a completely new calling. Around that time, my sister, working in physical therapy, had been learning and integrating John F. Barnes Myofascial Release into her work with her patients. She began teaching me techniques to use with my three adopted children, each of whom has unique needs including autism, cerebral palsy, sensory challenges, digestive issues, migraines, and emotional or behavioral dysregulation due primarily to prenatal exposure and significant early traumas. The changes I witnessed in my children were undeniable and, in some cases, deeply transformative. What began as something I used at home quickly grew into a passion I couldn’t ignore.
What initially felt like a loss became a gift. I returned to school to become a licensed massage therapist while simultaneously completing nine myofascial release courses so I would be fully prepared to treat as soon as I was licensed. Shortly after, I added training in craniosacral therapy and visceral manipulation—modalities that fundamentally shifted the way I work with the body and dramatically increased the specificity and effectiveness of my treatments.
Over time, I have honed my skill in working with the fascia and tissues surrounding the organs in the abdomen, pelvis, thorax, and cranium. This includes structures such as the stomach, liver, kidneys, bladder, colon, brain, spinal cord, and sacrum. Today, I integrate myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, and visceral manipulation into each session, with a primary focus on the visceral system. By “listening” to the body and allowing the tissues themselves to guide the work, I’m able to treat with greater precision, depth, and intention—supporting the body’s natural capacity to heal and self-regulate.
